FAQs
What are the primary criteria for making a selection?
Scholarships are primarily granted based on merit, meaning students who excel academically, actively engage in extracurricular activities, and contribute to their communities are most likely to be selected for one of the awards.
Who can I ask to write my letter of recommendation?
The best place to start is with a professor or teacher. Think of it as a professional recommendation in your collegiate career. Other good options would be an employer, a mentor, or a community leader. Do not use a family member or friend since they won’t carry an objective viewpoint.
How long does it take to find out if I won?
It all depends on how early in the year you submitted your application. All applications are due by December 31st and the winner will be notified by January 31st of the following year. So, if you submitted your application at the end of the year, expect to find out what the results were in about a month.
Will this scholarship affect my ability to acquire financial aid?
Since we give the award directly to the school you are attending as credit toward tuition, fees, room and board, or books, it should not interfere with any other form of financial aid.
